Why Tapping the Liver Meridian is Important for Hormone Regulation

It is a well know concept in Chinese Medicine that keeping the Qi flowing in the Liver Meridian helps maintain balance throughout the whole system. The Liver has many jobs, but its most important is to keep everything in the body flowing in its proper direction.

In western medicine, it is well known that the Liver helps balance sex, thyroid, and adrenal hormones AND removes excess hormones from the body. Because the Liver is a major detox organ of the body, toxic overload can have a major impact on the hormonal system. Therefore, it is important to keep the liver out of stagnancy by consuming foods and spices that are pungent in nature, such as sprouts, turmeric, ginger, etc. as well as getting ample sleep at night. Exercise is also KEY to maintaining healthy Liver Qi.
