Seek: An Introduction to Chinese Medicine

Seek: An Introduction to Chinese Medicine

This one-of-a-kind course teaches you how to identify the areas in your life that are out of balance. Ever heard the saying, it’s all connected? I swear it was a Chinese Medicine practitioner who came up with that.

Its true IT IS ALL CONNECTED! But how the heck do you know what’s connected to what, and what feelings relate to what symptoms and how feeling stuck is in indication of something bigger. How do you connect the dots, without understanding how it all works together?

Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered

After a few millennia, Chinese Medicine is masterful at understanding how the body and mind work together. More importantly, we are experts at understanding what is out of flow, and how to get you back into balance and harmony.

And you don’t have to go to school for the next 5 years to access these wisdoms. I’ve been studying for 20 and just happen to love talking about all the wonderful and mysterious connections that make up this wild ride we call life.

Here’s What you’ll learn in our 6 weeks together.

Registration for the course is now closed.

Get on the list and we’ll let you know when you can register.

Module 1 – Introduction

Basic theories of Chinese Medicine

We want to empower you with the wisdom you need to recognize when you are out of flow and the means to shift imbalances before they get out of hand. To do this we must start at the beginning and build our foundation on tried-and-true theories. We want you to think outside the box when it comes to your health and wellness. These ideas shift our perspective out of the western linear way of thinking and into a more collaborative and connected way of thinking.

  • Meridians and acupuncture points
  • The proper directional flow of energy in nature
  • Fragrance and plant energetics
  • Introduce the 5 elements and constitution
  • How each element or phase relates to different symptoms, ailments, life phases, etc.

Module 2 – Water

Make no mistake, we are CONSTANTLY in relationship with our environment. What is happening out there (In the environment) is happening in here (In our inner environment). However, that lands for you and whatever language you have used to this point, I assure you it’s true.

Water moves in certain ways; it reveals different aspects of us to ourselves. For example, the deeper you dive into water, the darker and more mysterious it gets, therefore the SCARIER it can get, the more fear inducing it becomes. Water shows up how our fear holds us back from our truest potential. From really becoming the person we were meant to become.

Fear shows up in the body in particular ways and in particular areas. This is where Chinese philosophy comes in. Through spacious inquiry we can learn how what we are feeling (And even not feeling!) in our body, is our guide to what is out of balance.

  • The Unique Gift of Water – how fear blocks potential coming forth
  • Body parts and common physical ailments related to Water and its related organs system, the Kidneys and Urinary Bladder
  • The excess (go go go) personality and deficient (frozen in fear) personality show up
  • Acupuncture points and an essential oil to help nourish the Kidneys and Urinary Bladder
  • Lifestyle tips to cultivate healthy Water

Module 3 – Fire

Becoming our highest expression, the person we are in the deepest regions of our Heart, is the gift of Fire. Related to the Heart, Small Intestine, and a couple of obscure Chinese “organs”, the space inhabited within the Heart is known in Chinese philosophy as Wu Wei or doing nothing. This isn’t a sit on the couch watching Netflix kind of nothing, it’s living according to the “Dao” or the way. It’s knowing our purpose, in our hearts, and living each day with this inner knowing.

It also reflects the warmth we bring to our relationships. It’s the two-space, the Wu Wei that is inhabited between you and another person.

  • How Fire sheds the light of cosmic consciousness into every aspect of our lives.
  • What happens when we aren’t living into our potential?
  • The excessive (blazing too hot) or deficient (Cold and cut off) personalities and how conflict can arise within our relationships.
  • Acupuncture points and essential oils to help balance Fire and the Heart and Small Intestine organ systems.
  • Lifestyle tips to cultivate healthy Fire.

Module 4 – Wood

Do you have a vision for your life? Are you moving forward? When the wood element gets stuck it gets MAD. Like road rage kind of mad. Related to the Liver and Gall Bladder, the wood element can be the cause of many an ailment, from hormonal disruption, to headaches, to digestive disorders, to anxiety, to sleep, to pain, to…. you get the picture.

In this module we get into anger, frustration and the importance of finding creative ways around life’s obstacles. There are so many physiological implications of a stagnant liver and we’ll explore different ways you can help keep that energy moving.

  • How healthy wood brings our purpose and potential forth – it’s the great alchemiser.
  • Physical ailments that can occur when wood is stuck and stagnating. – TRUST ME you are going to want to know this.
  • How the excessive (Pissed off has to have things done a certain way) and deficient (doesn’t want to get up off the couch) personality types show up.
  • Acupuncture points and essential oils to help balance Wood and the Liver and Gall Bladder organ systems.
  • Lifestyle tips to cultivate healthy Wood

Module 5 – Metal

Metal can be awkward to understand. It’s ethereal in nature and its essential nature lies in what we cannot see. It’s ungraspable in nature. It’s also all about death and what it is that needs to die in order for us to be reborn. Related to the Lung and Large Intestine, there’s a beautiful refinement that comes along with healthy Metal.

Sometimes when metal is out of balance, we have this sense in life that things aren’t quite right, but we can’t necessarily put our finger on it. We are unsure about our course of action and lack the confidence and trust in our own inner gifts to move into what life is calling us to do.

  • How chronic grief and sadness can prevent us from letting go and inspiring new action.
  • Physical ailments that can occur when we refuse to let death happen. (Metaphorical or literal death)
  • How the excess (cuts off and shuts out what it doesn’t like) and deficient (Can’t see any value in any action it might take) personalities, show up.
  • Acupuncture points and essential oils to help balance Metal and the Lung and Large Intestine organ systems.
  • Lifestyle tips to cultivate healthy Metal

Module 6 – Earth

Where it all comes home, earth. Earth is the physical manifestation of the fruits of our labour. We know how everything else is doing based on how our physical body is doing. It doesn’t lie, it’s based 100% in reality and it’s where the truth will get us each and every time. We can try, but we can’t run away from our bodies. Earth, through its digestive manifestation via the Spleen (Yes, it’s a digestive organ in Chinese Medicine, but it really should be called Pancreas) and Stomach, reveals just how harmoniously we are digesting life.

Out of balance there is a tendency to worry excessively about our needs or the needs of others. We can feel chronically undernourished and may find ourselves reaching for anything and everything to satiate that craving. Here’s the rub…It’s only when we are truly home, earthed in ourselves, that the cravings subside.

  • How chronic worry, selfishness or selflessness can prevent us from feeling truly fulfilled in life.
  • Physical ailments, pertaining to digestion, flesh and limbs can arise when earth is imbalanced.
  • How the excess (over consumption -too earthed) or deficient (Underconsumption – hard time earthing) personalities show up.
  • Acupuncture points and essential oils to help balance Earth and the Spleen and Stomach organ systems.
  • Lifestyle tips to cultivate healthy Earth.
